Order of Operations
- 1. Parentheses ( )
- 2. Multiplication and Division
- 3. Addition and Subtraction
To find an error in an order of operations problem, check the first step the student took to see if they followed the correct order: Parentheses, Multiplication/Division, then Addition/Subtraction.
💡 If the student did addition or subtraction before multiplication, that is usually where the mistake begins.
